Five held for indulging in flesh trade

Mysore, Apr 11 (UNI) The City Crime Branch police here arrested five girls, including three from Bangladesh, who were allegedly engaged in flesh trade in the city.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the place yesterday, the girls were allegedly indulged in prostitution and arrested them.

The arrested are Robina, Sheela and Swapana from Bangladesh, Sadhiya from Kolkata and Jyothy from Narasipura.

Police the girls from Bangladesh were staying in the city with fake passports, police said today.

The police arrested the girls from Bangladesh on charges of holding fake passports under the Immigration Act.

Sporadic fighting as aid ship nears Jaffna

Colombo, Aug 24: Sporadic artillery fire and air strikes continued along Sir Lanka's Jaffna peninsula today as an aid ship approached the beseiged city for the first time in nearly two weeks, residents and officials said.The army said the peninsula was ''calm and quiet'', but admitted some exchange of gunfire, which was confirmed by residents.The military also said jets struck a rebel Sea Tiger base near their de facto capital of Kilinochchi today.No supplies have reached.....
