Patna, Apr 11 (UNI) Bihar Governor R S Gavai today said the greatest contribution of Hindi films was its uniting force among the citizens through propagation and strengthening of the national language across the various regions of the country, having cultural variance.
Speaking at the concluding function of the six-day long film festival organised here,Mr Gavai said film was the reflection of the society and screening of films of different languages and dialects on such occasion,contributed a lot in spreading the message of'unity in diversity'.
''It is pleasing to note that film festival is being organised here for the last three consecutive years under the patronage of the Bihar government,'' Mr Gavai said adding movie buffs and voluntary organisations should take the responsibility to hold such functions in future.
Addressing the function, Union Minister of state for Information and Public Relations Arjun Rai said five short film appreciation course had been organised during the past few months to educate the youths about the different aspects of film making.
Noted film producer and director Prakash Jha appreciated the efforts of the Bihar government in organising the film festival and said it would encourage the producers to make good films in coming days.
Earlier, a seminar was also organised on Bhojpuri film which was addressed by senior IAS officer and former Director of Film Training Institute, Pune, Tripurari Sharan who cautioned against the rising trend of obscenity in the regional films saying it was vitiating the healthy atmosphere of the society.
