Mumbai, Apr 11 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will inaugurate the second phase of the Brihanmumbai Storm Water Drain Project (BRIMSTOWAD) tomorrow at Chembur in eastern suburbs of the city.
The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by 2008 and the second phase will be completed by 2011, a release issued by BMC said.
The first phase of the project, which is in progress, consists of 20 works that include train widening and deepening of nallas in the suburbs, rehabilitation of arch/box drains in the city areas and construction of four storm water pumping stations.
The second phase consists of 38 works and is similar to phase one in nature. The preliminary survey and sub-soil testing work has been taken up by various agencies.
The BRIMSTOWAD project, which costs Rs 1200 crore, has been totally funded by the Central Government and an initial payment of Rs 400 crore has been received as the first installment in 2007-08.
