Centre to initiate SDAP scheme for Rs 7500 crore in TN:Baalu

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 11 (UNI) The Union Government had proposed to take up a Special Auxiliary Road Development Project (SADP) for about 13,000 km in the North Eastern Region under the National Highways Authority of India's seventh scheme, at an estimated cost of Rs 7500 crore, according to Union Minister for Shipping and Highways T R Baalu.

Talking to newspersons here last night, after inspecting the four laning road project in between Tindivanam and Tiruchirapalli, he said the proposed SADP would contain multi-terrain road structure.

Expressing his satisfaction over the ongoing works between Tindivanam and Tiruchirapalli, at a cost of Rs 1260 crores, Mr Baalu said the work is expected to be completed in September, six months ahead of schedule.

He said the Government had proposed to implement road development works all over the country, while the ministry was awaiting the cabinet's nod for NHAI's fourth scheme to cover 20,000 length of national highways for improvement. Under NHAI's fifth project, it was proposed to lay six-laning roads for a distance of 6500 km in various parts of the country.

The NHAI's sixth project was exclusively meant for erecting express way and a detailed report was yet to be prepared for the project, he added.
