CBI files chargesheet against V K Singh, Garg

New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) The CBI today filed a chargesheet against former Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) official Lt Gen Retd V K Singh, the author of the book "India's External Intelligence - Secrets of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and its publisher Vivek Garg.

The CBI in its chargesheet filed before a Delhi Court under section 3 and 5 of Official Secrets Act and Section 409 IPC (criminal breach of trust by a public servant) has said Singh had wilfully communicated the secret information in a manner which is prejudicial to the interest of the nation.

Singh had divulged ''top secret'' information in his book which alleged corruption in India`s external intelligence agency.

The investigating agency had earlier filed a complaint against Singh and Garg for the same offence.

Both the chargesheet and the complaint against Singh will come up for hearing on April 17.

Singh has also applied for an anticipatory bail before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Kapoor, proceedings in which will be held in-camera.

Simlipal sealed for tribal hunters

Baripada, Apr 11 (UNI) The authorities today sealed Simlipal National Park and its sanctuary to protect wildlife from being poached by tribal hunters. Besides, a well-equipped anti-poaching combat, involving locals, was launched to assist the Simlipal Tiger Protection Force(STPF) to keep the poachers at bay. Altogether 311 local youths were recruited from the villages located inside the sanctuary to intensify the anti-poaching operation and ''Mass Hunting Excursion'' by the tribals, scheduled to take place from April.....

Over Rs one crore for reclaiming land in Sirsa distt

Chandigarh, Apr 11 (UNI) The Haryana Land Reclamation and Development Corporation has initiated a pilot project with a cost of Rs 1.26 crore to reclaim the waterlogged land in Darba Kalan area of Sirsa district. Giving this information Managing Director of the Corporation, Mr M P Bidlan said that about 900 acres of waterlogged land would be reclaimed in this area. Temple wall dispute snowballs in UP

Varanasi, Apr 11 (UNI) An enraged mob of saints and people, associated with various organisations, today warned of an agressive protest over the breaking of famous Vishwanath temple wall in this district of Uttar Pradesh. The saints have decided to start a phase-wise agitation into the matter, sources said.
