New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) Within 48 hours of lodging a complaint under the Official Secrets Act in a local court against a retired Major General, the CBI today filed a chargesheet against him under the same Act for divulging in his book classified information to which he had access during his tenure at the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
The complaint was filed in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate against Maj Gen (Retd) V K Singh on Wednesday for revealing the contents of the ''secret''information in his book "India's External Intelligence - Secrets of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)'' and the publisher of the book, Vivek Garg.
Today, the CBI filed chargesheet against the Singh in the court of ACCM Kawaljeet Arora, in the Tiz Hazari court.
In a related development, additional Sessions Judge, Tiz Hazari, Rakesh Kapoor allowed the application of agency for an in-camera hearing in the matter.
The CBI pointed out that the former RAW official had revealed the secret recommendations of the Group of Ministers on Internal Security given in 2001 and he had also divulged the details of the 'Top Secret' future technology up-gradation Project "Vision 2000" of the Cabinet Secretariat (RAW) and specifically given the details of the technical aspects of two of the sub-projects namely VSAT Project and UHF/VHF Project, which were classified as 'Secret'.
The author of the book has also revealed specific and general details of several locations of the Cabinet Secretariat (RAW) stations which are of classified nature, the agency said.
The CBI also held the publisher of the book responsible, as he knew fully well that certain contents were of classified nature, but went ahead and published the same.
Singh in his book had claimed serious lapses by the government and had alleged political interference and corruption in the intelligence agency.
The CBI had registered a case on the complaint of Cabinet Secretariat (RAW), filed for offences u/s 120-B IPC (criminal conspiracy) r/w sections 3&5 of Official Secrets Act, 1923 and Section 409 IPC (criminal breach of trust by public servant).
