Tata to invest Rs 500 Cr in Assam

Guwahati, Apr 10: The Tata Telecom Service Limited (TTSL) will invest Rs 500 crore to upgrade the communication grid of the Assam Government.

An MoU was signed today on this aspect between the Assam Small Industry Development Corporation (ASIDC) and the TTSL in Jorhat this evening in presence of Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Industry Minister Pradyut Bardoloi.

The TTSL would invest Rs 500 crore over a period of next three years to upgrade the communication infrastructure of the state government.

Chief Minister Gogoi welcomed the investment saying such spending would go a long way in improving the basic infrastructure.

Assam Government runs with primitive communication system which is obsolete.

Kamrup (Assam), Dec 6: With a fresh outbreak of bird flu in poultry being detected in Assam, authorities are prepared to start the culling of thousands of chickens.Reports say the virus has spread to the districts of Barpeta and Nalbari from Hajo in Kamrup District, where it was first reported. KNLF militants surrender in Assam

Morigaon (Assam), Dec 7: Eight members of a banned militant outfit have surrendered in Assam. They surrendered militants belonged to the "Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KNLF)." Assam Company commences oil delivery from Amguri field

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Assam Company Ltd (ACL) has begun delivery of oil from its operated field in Amguri to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) refinery in Guwahati, Assam, about 115 km away. The oil is being sold at the same price as a basket of crude oils with similar characteristics traded in the international market, a company release here said. The oil produced from Amguri is first trucked to Oil India Ltd (OIL) facility at Moran.....
