Singhi Ram and Rahi sent to police custody again

Shimla, Apr 10 (UNI) Former Himachal Pradesh Minister Singhi Ram and former HP Board of School Education's (HPBSE) chairman B R Rahi were again arrested today and sent to police custody till April 16 after a local court rejected their bail application in the fake certificate scam.

The Sessions Court sent both of them to police custody after the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV and ACB) sought their remand for custodial interrogation.

Sources in the SV and ACB said the two were arrested minutes after the court rejected their bail applications, SV and ACB SP A P Singh told UNI here.

He said the two would be kept either in Chotta Shimla or Sadar Police Station during the night.

Mr Ram and Mr Rahi were granted bail on April 5 after the District Sessions Judge RL Raghu transferred the case to it following the registration of a case against them under Section 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

A case under section 420, 468, 471 and 120 of the IPC has been registered against Mr Ram and Mr Rahi for issuing a fake certificate to the Minister's daughter for ensuring her admission in New Delhi's Lady Shriram College after she had failed in her Class 12th examination from Lawrence School Sanawar.

Nawaz Sharif still an offender despite pardon: Pak Supreme Court

Islamabad, Feb.2 (ANI): The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled that though former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been pardoned in the case relating to his disqualification from contesting the by-elections, he still remains an offender.According to The News, Justice Sheikh Hakim Ali observed that Sharif was still an offender and not eligible to contest the elections.Earlier, during the hearing, Sharif's lawyer Akram Sheikh argued that the case against his client does not have legality to stand in.....
