Ramkumar in line for a triple crown

Chandigarh, Apr 10 (UNI) R Ramkumar of Tamil Nadu is in line for a triple crown at the AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament being played at the CLTA Tennis Stadium.

He has stormed into the Boys Under-14 and U-16 singles finals and partnering Arjun Khade, Ramkumar won the boys Under -16 doubles crown beating Suraj Konwar and Rupam Gogoi 6-2, 6-3.

Ramkumar , a member of the Indian Under- 14 team, demolished all his opponents right through the tournament en route to his two finals.

Standing stoic like a ball machine ripping top spin forehands and backhands repeatedly Ramkumar was too tough for his opponents, beating Manab Chakma 6-1, 6-2 and Vishal Passi 6-1, 6-1 in the boys Under- 14 and Under-16, respectively. Both matches were totally one sided with Ramkumar dominating the matches from the first game.

Meanwhile Parminder Kaur of the CLTA continued her winning form enterd both the girls Under- 14 and Under-16 finals.

Parminder beat Zainab Ali Sajjad 7-6, 7-4 and fourth seed Saadgi Rajani 6-2, 6-3 respectively. She plays Tarranumhanda from Delhi in both finals.

Ajay Yadav a product of CLTA's CHART Scheme found his way into the boys Under- 14 singles final with a superb 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 victory over third seed Arjun Khade. Ajay dominated the first set with power and precision. A high percentage of first serves and some quality baseline domination gave Ajay the first set 6-1.

Arjun then slowed the game to put Ajay out of rhythm, but finally in the third set Ajay outpowered Arjun.

Results: Boys Under-14 (semi-finals): R. Ramkumar bt Manab Chakma 6-1,6-2; Ajay Yadav Bt Arjun Khade 6-1, 4-6,6-3.

Boys Under-16 (semi-finals): Vishwesh bt Ajay Yadav 7-6, 6-1; R.

Ramkumar bt Vishal Passi 6-1, 6-1.

Girls Under-14 (semi-finals): Parminder Kaur bt Zainab Ali Sajjad 7-6, 6-4;Tarranum Handa bt Likhita Shetty 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.

Girls Under -16 (semi-finals): Parminder Kaur bt Saadgi Rajani 6-2,6-3;Tarranum Handa btZainab Ali sajjab 6-3, 6-3.

Boys doubles (finals): Under 14- Vilas Khate&Sushanta Mohanty bt Pankaj Kumar&S. Bonafice 6-4, 6-2. Under 16: R. Ramkumar and Arjun Khade bt Suraj Konwar&R Gogoi 6-2,6-1.
