PT Usha, Bindra, Sandhu to carry Olympic Torch at Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) Sprint Queen PT Usha, ace shooters Manavjit Singh Sandhu and Abhinav Bindra and powerlifter Rajinder Singh Rahelu, who won the Bronze medal at the 2004 Athens Paralympics, will be the torch bearers for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay, to be held here on April 17.

Announcing this here today Samsung India, the presenting partner for the ongoing Olympic Torch Relay, also named Sarod Maestro Ayaan Ali Khan and 'Chak de' girl - Sagarika Ghatge as the other two torchbearers.

On her being chosen as one of the torch bearers for the Indian leg P T Usha said, ''I am honored to be a part of the Beijing 2008 Olympics Torch Relay. I will be taking part in the Run for our motherland, with joy and sportsman spirit.'' Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardee and World Shooting Champion 2006, Manavjit Singh Sandhu too expressed his happiness.

''Carrying the Olympic Torch is indeed a matter of great pride and privilege for any individual. As a sportsman, I feel very honoured to be given the opportunity to carry the Olympic Torch and promote the movement in the country,'' Sandhu said.

Delhi needs "City State" system: Sheila Dikshit

MP Govt did not utilise central funds completely: Cong

Harda, MP, Apr 10 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Narayan Sami today alleged that the Madhya Pradesh Government had failed to utilise central funds completely. ''The Centre had provided Rs 12,000 crore to the state government but Rs 2,180 crore lapsed due to non-utilisation by March 31,'' Mr Sami told reporters here.
