Srinagar Apr 10 (UNI) Yet another man attempted to commit suicide in the Kashmir valley, where muslim ulemas and other religious scholars have issued a fatwa declaring it an unislamic act.
Official sources said one Mohammad Rafiq Bhat consumed some poisonous substance in his Aripora house late last night.
He was immediately rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
It was not immediately clear why Bhat took this extreme step, sources added.
The trend of committing suicide in the Kashmir, particularly by women, has not stopped even after muslim ulemas and other religious scholars issued a fatwa declaring it against the teachings of Islam.
About a dozen people, mostly women, have died by committing suicide in the valley this year.
