Musharraf calls on lawyers to curtail anarchy

Islamabad, Apr 10 (UNI) Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf today appealed to the lawyers opposing his rule to remain calm and refrain from spreading anarchy.

''There should be a civilized behaviour, law and order should be maintained and anarchy should not be spread in the country'' , the President told mediapersons before departing for a five-day visit to China.

Mr Musharraf in response to a question, strongly condemned the incident of manhandling Dr Sher Afgan Niazi in Lahore and termed ''unfortunate'' the violence in Karachi thereafter.

''Whosoever started it, I strongly condemn it, is it a way of a civilized society ? ,'' Mr Musharraf said.

Violence broke out in parts of Karachi, yesterday after anti-Musharraf lawyers clashed with his supporters in a court.

Five people were killed in shooting in the city while six charred bodies of lawyers, two of them women, were recovered from a building housing lawyers' chambers after it was set ablaze.

To a question about his visit to China, th presidentsaid the two sides will discuss every facet of broad relationship that existed between the two countries.
