Hyderabad, Apr 10 (UNI) Welcoming the Supreme Court's upholding of 27 per cent reservation for OBCs and exclusion of the creamy layer from the quota purview, the Lok Satta Party, today said reservation was only a temporary solution to the problem of economic and social backwardness.
In a statement here, Party General Secretary DVVS Varma said the state had to provide growth opportunities to every child irrespective of his caste and economic status by providing free and quality education.
Justifying the exclusion of creamy layer from reservations, he said in addition, the state government should provide ten per cent weightage in marks to students from rural areas in competitive examinations.
