Kerala welcomes SC verdict on reservation

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 10 (UNI) The ruling LDF and the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) today welcomed the Supreme Court verdict upholding 27 per cent reservation for the OBC's in the Centrally run institutions of higher education.

Kerala Education Minister M A Baby welcomed the verdict and said the Centre should frame laws in such a way that they were implemented in unaided professional institutes also.

Opposition leader in the State Assembly Oommen Chandy said it was because of the Centre's initiative that the verdict had come.

The BJP also welcomed the apex court's verdict.

Former Education Minister and Indian Union Muslim League leader E T Mohammed Basheer, welcoming the verdict, said it would bridge the gap of reservation.

Welcoming the verdict, the Students Federation of India (SFI) asked for the immediate implementation of the verdict.

SC transfers Jet Sahara proceedings to HC

New Delhi, Aug 28: The Supreme Court today ordered that all the proceedings pending in the court of District judge, Lucknow filed by Sahara Commercial Corporation Limited shall be transfered to Bombay High Court where the two petitions filed by Jet Airways are already pending.The deal involving the sale of Sahara Airways to Jet Airways which failed to materialise now revolves around Rs 2000 cr which are lying with M/S Escrow.A bench comprising Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal.....

Nawaz Sharif still an offender despite pardon: Pak Supreme Court

Islamabad, Feb.2 (ANI): The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled that though former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been pardoned in the case relating to his disqualification from contesting the by-elections, he still remains an offender.According to The News, Justice Sheikh Hakim Ali observed that Sharif was still an offender and not eligible to contest the elections.Earlier, during the hearing, Sharif's lawyer Akram Sheikh argued that the case against his client does not have legality to stand in.....
