New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) The Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences at Vasant Kunj, a super speciality hospital of the Delhi Government, would be commissioned in August, and the first liver transplant operation is likely to be performed around August 15, in it.

The 155-Bed Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences would be commissioned in August, as its four normal operation theatres have become ready and another two operation theatres for liver transplant are near completion, it was reported today in a review meeting of Health and Family Welfare Department.
It was reported in the meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, that another seven hospital projects are in advanced stage of completion whereas another four hospital projects have been sanctioned. 14 Projects are at planning stage and the city government has already completed 15 hospital projects during the last five years.
Addressing the meeting, where Health Minister Yoganand Shastri, Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta, Principal Secretary (Health) Vivek Rae and other senior officers were present, Ms Dikshit exhorted officers concerned to start execution of sanctioned projects which include the 750-bed Bharat Ratna Indira Gandhi Super-specialty Hospital, Dwarka, the 200-bedded Hospital at Kokiwala Bagh and the Nursing School Building in GTB Hospital.
It is expected that foundation stone for Dwarka Hospital would be laid next month. A medical college would also be developed in the complex of this hospital.
It was also reported that base isolation technology is being applied in construction of 500-bed new ward block at GTB Hospital Shahdara, 450-bed Orthopaedic Block at LNJP and Dwarka Hospital.
New ward block at GTB Hospital is scheduled to be commissioned in May, 2009 whereas Orthopaedic Block at LNJP is expected to be commissioned August. The Hospitals at Hastsal, Keshavpuram, Sarita Vihar, Molarband, Burari, Baprola are at planning stage.
