EC issues notice to Shivraj Singh Chouhan

New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) The Election Commission today issued notice to the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for violating the Model Code of Conduct by announcing new schemes of distribution of rice and wheat at subsidised rates and stating that this will be implemented in Betul.

The Commission has asked Mr Chouhan to reply to the notice by 1700 hrs tomorrow.

India-Pak to hold talks on Sir Creek on May 17

Islamabad, May 16: India and Pakistan will begin a two-day talk on the Sir Creek tomorrow. An Indian defence delegation, led by Major Gen M Gopal Rao, Surveyor General of India, is arriving here today for the talks to be held in Rawalpindi. Pakistani side will be led by Additional Defence Secretary Rear Admiral Tanveer Faiz. The two sides will discuss in detail the joint survey, which was conducted in January......

Washington, May 11: Richard Holbrooke, a former senior US diplomat and a possible Democratic secretary of state, today described Iraq as a ''civil war raging out of control'' and a foreign policy crisis worse than Vietnam.
