Deve Gowda alleges violation of poll code

Hubli, Apr 10 (UNI) Former Prime Minister and Janta Dal(S) President H D Deve Gowda today alleged that despite the announcement of elections in Karnataka, transfers of officials were going on at the behest of Congress leaders.

If transfers continue then there was a possibility that the elections would not be held in a peaceful manner, he said while speaking at a mass marriage function here.

Mr Gowda expressed the fear that free and fair polls could not be expected in the state.

He said his party would provide assistance to the people affected by floods and unseasonal rains last month in Navalgund, Naragund and Ron taluks.

Kathmandu, Apr 10 : Around sixty per cent of electorate exercised their franchise on Thursday in the crucial Constituent Assembly elections in Nepal. According to reports, polling concluded successfully. Election Commission officials said that except a few incidents, the election was a "big success" and that voter turnout in majority of the districts was "more than anticipated."
