New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said her Government has intensified regularisation process of those 1409 unauthorised colonies whose lay out plans have been submitted by respective RWAs.
Addressing the concluding session of a four-day Bhagidari Workshop on "Regularisation of Unauthorized Colonies", Ms Dikshit described the Union Government's notification as a major step, which has authorised the city-government to take further action in this regard.
The Chief Minister said her Government is committed to focus on development works relating to basic services in colonies slated for regularisation.
Ms Dikshit said her Government has already taken up developmental works in unauthorised colonies for which Rs.2800 crore has been earmarked.
An amount of Rs 658 crore was released till March 31, 2008 for laying of water and sewer lines and construction of roads in these colonies.
She further stated that her Government has been pursuing issue of regularisation of unauthorised colonies and lay out plans were invited from respective RWAs. In addition to this MCD, DDA and other Government agencies were also exhorted to complete survey of unauthoried colonies at the earliest.
The Chief Minister said her government is keen to provide better amenities to the residents of unauthorised colonies who have been facing difficulties due to lack of basic amenities.
''The residents of these colonies would soon have their respectable address and a better environment,''she said.
Being organised by the Delhi Government, the four large Group Interactive Sessions (Bhagidari Workshop), being held from April 7 at Pragati Maidan, were aimed at sensitising RWAs of around 1400 unauthorised colonies (which are likely to be regularised) about the process of regularisation and development activities.
On an average around 700 representatives of two districts on each day participated in the Large Group Interactive Sessions.
Present at the concluding session were Delhi Development Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan and MLAs Veer Singh Dhingan, Baljor Singh, Balram Tanwar, senior officers of Urban Development Department of Delhi Government, the MCD, the Delhi Jal Board, DSIIDC, Irrigation&Flood Control Department and Distcoms were also present.
Large number of representatives of RWAs interacted during the four-day workshop where all government departments and agencies made their master presentations regarding basic services being planned/provided in unauthorised colonies for information, education and awareness of the representatives of the RWAs so as to mobilise the citizens in regularisation process and successful execution of development works in unauthorised colonies.
Once they are regularised, 40 lakh residents of unauthorised colonies would be able to avail benefits of availability of all basic amenities like road, water, sewer lines, drains, dhalaos, treet-lights, bus stations, fire stations, availability of community facilities like Community Halls, Schools, Health Centres, Police Posts, Fair Price Shops, Milk Booths etc.
Legal ownership of the property would be established and registration of these properties can take place. Bank loans can be availed against these properties and improvement of overall environment will help towards making Delhi a world class city.
