Bangalore, Apr 10 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) M N Vidyashankar today said 675 companies of central forces would be deployed for the ensuing assembly elections in the state.
Talking to newspersons here, he said 225 companies of the central forces for three phases of the elections on 10, May 16 and 22 would be deployed to assist the State force in maintaining law and order during the polling.
Mr Vidyashankar said each polling booth would be provided with one wireless set and a minimum of two constables, and depending on the sensitive situation, the force would be increased.
Replying to a question, he said identification of sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths depends on candidates fielded and it would be worked out before elections.
He said a model code of conduct had been sent to Deputy Commissioners for implementation.
Mr Vidyashankar said to ensure adequate security during the elections, meetings between the police officials and the Home Secretaries would be held.
He said following the announcement of dates for the elections by the Chief Election Commissioner and Code of conduct coming into force, several cases of violations were booked, including seizure of 3000 watches for distribution to voters at Chikaballapur, tiles in Dakshina Kannada and saris in Ramanagara.
