Amritsar, April 10 (UNI) Border Security Force (BSF) seized 20 kgs heroin, worth at Rs 20 crore in the international market, near the border village of Muthianwali in the Ferozepur sector late last night, BSF sources said today.
According to the sources, a 16-year-old boy, identified as Raj Kamal of Khemkaran who had gone to pick up the heroin consignment, was taken into custody. Later, on his questioning another person of Bhangali village in Tarn Taran district was also nabbed.
Raj Kamal was arrested in Amritsar last year when two kgs heroin was recovered from his school bag. He was then sent to the Juvenile Home in Hoshiarpur and was currently out on bail.
According to the sources, two to three smugglers from Pakistan sneaked across the border and threw the heroin packets across the barbed wire fence. However, their movement was picked up by the night division devices being used by the BSF naka parties.
The BSF jawans opened fire on the intruders who fled back into Pakistan after successfully throwing twenty packets of heroin across the fence. Raj Kamal, who had gone to retrieve the packets, was taken into custody by the BSF and after registration of a case under the NDPS Act he was arrested alongwith his colleague.
