Ban on fishing in AP from April 15 to June 15

Hyderabad, Apr 10: The Andhra Pradesh Government has issued ban orders on marine fishing, prohibiting fishing activities by all fishing vessels in the sea (in the territorial limits of Andhra Pradesh) from April 15 to June 15.

The ban, issued as per the powers vested with the Government under the Andhra Pradesh Marine Fishing Regulation Act, 1995, aimed at observing conservancy measures during the breeding season of prawn and fish, according to an official release here.

All the fishermen were requested to observe ''closed season'' strictly as was done in the previous years to have good catches during the post-ban period. Those fishermen/boat owners who violate the order would be penalized under law by way of seizure of their boats and catches, besides levying heavy penalties.
