Singur/Kolkata, Apr 9: London-based industrialist Lord Swraj Paul was greeted with protests during his visit to the controversial Tata small car plant in Singur.
Despite the protests, Paul said he would build three plants in the state. "We found Singur very impressive. We are building two plants, rather three plants there. So, we certainly have faith in West Bengal," Paul said. Tata Motors started to build its factory in Singur in January 2007 to make the world's cheapest car. In January, the much awaited one-lakh rupees car, Nano, was unveiled by Tata Motors chairman Ratan Tata in New Delhi, which is likely to hit roads by October. But the project has been mired in controversy with some farmers declaring that the government took their land against their will.
