Tiruchirapalli, Apr 9: A 55-year-old inmate of the Central Prison here was injured in a clash between two groups of prisoners inside the jail.
Police said a team of senior official conducted a surprise search inside the prison on Monday and seized a new mobile phones which was hidden inside the jail.
In connection with the search, a wordy duel erupted between two groups of prisoners leading to a clash in which Gnasekaran, a life convict was injured.
He was admitted to the prison hospital.
Prison authorities separated the clashing groups and restored normalcy, police added.
