To woo voters, Brown to borrow Blair's election slogan

London, Apr 7 : To win back disaffected voters in southern England British Prime Minister Gordon Brown will borrow one of Tony Blair's election slogans.

Trying to reverse New Labour Party's dismal recent poll results, Brown will deliberately echo his predecessor, saying: "We've done a lot, but we've got a lot more to do."

The appeal, in a party political broadcast before next month's local government elections, is identical to one used by Blair before the 2001 general election.

The tone is part of an effort to put more emphasis on Labour's decade in power under Blair.

When Brown became Prime Minister last year he explicitly attempted to distance himself from his predecessor. But now with voters increasingly nervous about a slowing economy, pollsters have told him to reassure the people by talking more about Labour's past achievements.

"We can be proud of what we've achieved, proud but not satisfied. We've only just begun to change Britain for the better, and we're going to step up the pace of change," the Telegraph quoted Brown, as saying.

Blair's ability to reach out to the voters helped deliver three election victories for party between 1997 and 2007.
