Two soil testing labs to be set up in Samastipur

Samastipur, Apr 7 (UNI) Two soil sample test labs will be set up in Samastipur district of North Bihar at the cost of Rs 37 lakhs to promote agriculture in the area.

Speaking to media persons here today, District Magistrate(DM) Asangwa Chua said that both the soil sample test labs would be set up at Patori and Hasanpur in the district and the construction work would be completed in the current financial year.

He maintained, ''We had launched special campaigns to promote Bio-Farming in the district by bringing awareness among the farmers.

As a result, at least 400 Vermi-Compost Units were installed in the district during last one year, he added.

''Once the labs starts functioning, it would immensely help the farmers as the farmers would be able to test the samples of their soils in the new labs,'' he informed.

Action against illicit liquor dens increases excise income

Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today said the excise income of the state has increased by Rs 1,700 crore with action initiated against illicit liquor dens and their operators.
