Swarna Yuga releases first list of candidates

Bangalore, Apr 6 (UNI) Swarna Yuga Party, a new outfit launched by Former Janata Dal(S) Leader Mahima Patel, today announced the first list of nine candidates contesting the May elections to the Karnataka Assembly.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Patel, who quit the JD(S) in protest against the party refusing to hand over Chief Ministership to the BJP as per the pre-government formation understanding, said he would be contesting from his home constituency of Chennagiri.

His party would contest 30 seats in the coming elections.

Mr Patel, son of Former Chief Minister J H Patel, said his party would follow the Election Commission's wishes that no plastic buntings or posters were used in order to promote 'eco-friendly' elections.

YSR conducts review meeting for flood relief

Guj Govt transfers 41 IAS officials

Gandhinagar, Apr 6 (UNI) With a view to strengthen the administration in the state, Gujarat Home Department today transferred as many as 41 senior IAS officers. Minor fire in LIC building in Mumbai, no casualties

Mumbai, Apr 6 (UNI) A minor fire broke out on the fourth floor of the five-storeyed LIC building on Phirozeshah Mehta road in South Mumbai tonight. According to fire brigade officials, the fire started at around 2235 hours. Ten fire engines and two ambulances were dispatched to douse the fire. The cause for the fire is not yet known. There were no reports of loss of life till now, and the extent of damage to the property.....
