Rodrigues listens to grievances of people

Chandigarh, Apr 7 (UNI) Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Union Territory Administrator General (Retd.) S F Rodrigues today heard the grievances of people in a two-hour long public hearing session here today.

The Administrator gave a patient hearing to the distressed people and assured prompt action to solve their problems. He directed the concerned officers of the Administration to solve the problems of people in a time bound manner.

While listening to the complaints regarding "irregularities" by Housing Cooperative Societies, General Rodrigues asked the Deputy Commissioner to make a detailed analysis of the functioning of all Cooperative societies and said that legal action must be initiated against defaulters.

When residents of Sector 67 brought to the notice of the Administrator, the problem of sewage and dirty water flowing in the nallah passing nearby and emitting a foul smell, General Rodrigues asked the senior officers of the Municipal Corporation and the Administration to tackle this problem within one month.

Responding to the complaint by some residents about the unauthorized encroachment in Sector 22, General Rodrigues appreciated their concern and asked the Deputy Commissioner to take immediate action against the unscrupulous elements.

He also asked the Deputy Commissioner to evolve a monitoring system for checking the unauthorized and illegal occupation of government land and to take stringent action against the defaulters.

He voiced his concern over the fleecing of innocent people by the land mafia and asked the officers to tackle this problem immediately.

Govt recommends State EC to conduct Panchayat poll from May 11

Kolkata, Apr 7 (UNI) The West Bengal government today recommended the State Election Commission to conduct Panchayat polls in three phases beginning May 11. Bangla Indian HC escapes unhurt in accident near Dhaka
