Ramadoss walks to focus on protecting health from climate change

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss and Environment and Forest Minister Namo Narain Meena today planted trees and participated in a 'Health Run' to mark the World Health Day.

The event was organised by WHO to commemorate the 60th anniversary of its foundation and to promote themes of 'Protecting Health from Climate Change' and 'Our Health and Our Future.' A mass awareness campaign was organised in which students from schools, NGOs, resident welfare associations, scouts and guides, NCC, red cross, educational institutions, police and defence service personnel participated.

A number of cultural shows involving folk dance and band display was held and participants pledged to protect the environment.

Today's event was the culmination of a month long programme to create awareness about the harmful impact of global warming on the health of the people.

Indo-China trade through Nathu La to start as per schedule

Gangtok, Apr 7 (UNI) The third edition of annual border trade between Sikkim and Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of China through the 14,400 -ft Nathu La pass in East Sikkim will commence undeterred as per schedule. The Indo-China trade via Nathu La is expected to start on the scheduled date of May 1. However, China's view on this year's trade was yet to be known. Rs 125 Cr central fund to fight Ganga erosion: Pranab

Farakka, Apr 7 (UNI) The Centre has sanctioned Rs 125 crore to combat Ganga erosion in Murshidabad and Malda districts of West Bengal, according to External Affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee. Of the total fund, Rs 37 crore had already been allocated, Mukherjee told a news conference here yesterday. Mukherjee along with Union Water Resources minister Saifuddin Soz and West Bengal's Irrigation minister Subhash Naskar had made an aerial survey of the erosion affected areas......

Omaxe to invest Rs 100 cr on advertisement

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Country's real estate player Omaxe today said it plans to spend Rs 100 crores on advertisement both print and electronic. The developer currently has a media outlay of Rs 80 crores which it plans to enhance by Rs 20 crores more to touch Rs 100 crores.
