Police burst teargas to quell mob violence

Mysore, Apr 07(UNI) Police burst teargas shells and resorted to lathi charge to dispurse two groups indulged in clashes over the issue of entry into a temple at Jakkanahalli village near Srirangapatna in Mandya district this morning Police sources said that the incident occurred when people belonging one particular community tried to enter into a temple which was opposed by the people of another community resulting into a group clash.

When appeal to disburse from the scene did not yield any results the police resorted to mild lathicharge besides lobbing tear gas over the mob and brought the situation under control.

Additional police forces have been rushed to the village which is still tense the sources added.

Rs 125 Cr central fund to fight Ganga erosion: Pranab

Farakka, Apr 7 (UNI) The Centre has sanctioned Rs 125 crore to combat Ganga erosion in Murshidabad and Malda districts of West Bengal, according to External Affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee. Of the total fund, Rs 37 crore had already been allocated, Mukherjee told a news conference here yesterday. Mukherjee along with Union Water Resources minister Saifuddin Soz and West Bengal's Irrigation minister Subhash Naskar had made an aerial survey of the erosion affected areas......

Omaxe to invest Rs 100 cr on advertisement

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) India is fully capable of and will give full ''respect and protection'' to the Olympic Torch when it arrives here on April 17, Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma said here today. ''The government of India is fully capable of providing security to it (the Olympic Torch)...It will be given full protection...It is our country's policy to protect the Torch and it will be allowed to pass through with.....
