PCB urged to undo ban on ICL players

Lahore, Apr 7 (UNI) Sialkot Region Cricket Association president, Chaudhary Naeem Gulzar has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to lift the ban on ICL bound players and let them play in domestic cricket.

In a statement yesterday, Naeem said senior players were an asset to the country and could transfer their experience to the budding players in the domestic cricket which could be helpful in preparing talented players.

''The Indian Cricket League (ICL) has big hope for the retired players from around the world who have little hope of making their come back in the international cricket. The ICL is helping the cricketers as well the game of cricket by offering financial assistance to the players,'' Naeem said.

He said a player has a short period of eight to ten years of playing cricket but could do nothing after his retirement. Naeem maintained that the payers have all the rights to make money by fair means ensure a safe future for themselves.

Naeem emphasised that both the ICL and IPL were Indian leagues and the PCB should not put embargoes on the players to play one or the other.

''I think PCB should concentrate on their cricket and cricketers and support them instead of insuring the BCCI interests,'' he asserted.
