Last session of present J

Srinagar, Apr 7 (UNI) The session of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly probably the last before the general elections in the state, will be held next month in the new legislature complex.

Work on the near complete legislature complex was going apace on the instructions of the Chief Minister, an official spokesman said.

He said the next session of the State legislature is scheduled to be held in the new building sometime in May.

The project, which remained abandoned for about two decades, would be completed at a cost of Rs 22 crore.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today visited the Rs 28 crore multi-storey museum complex which is also coming up at a fast pace on the banks of the Jhelum River at Lal Mandi behind the present SPS Museum building.

The building would house the treasure-trove of the State in a scientific manner, the absence of which had been long felt by the lovers of the precious collection in the museum.

The old building of the museum had also suffered damages due to the earthquake of October 2005.

The Chief Minister also inspected work on the beautification of Jhelum banks in the city. Under the project, both banks of the river in the capital city are being beautified in a bid to restore old glory of Kashmir's main river in Srinagar.

We must thank the makers of our great Constitution for guaranteeing us the freedom of speech which makes it possible for us to find an appropriate title to write a piece on what seems, the Ministry"s utter lack of understanding of the software industry. TIOL has carried a lot of articles (including two from me) on the Finance Ministry"s proposal to levy service tax on the software industry. The more I read the Budget and.....

For an industry that is predominantly export oriented, the bad news comes at a time when it has already been significantly impacted by the appreciating currency which has seen its margins getting eroded by around 12% over the last months......
