KRV to boycott Rajnikant films in Karnataka

Bangalore, Apr 7(UNI) The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) today threatened that its activists will not allow the screening of Tamil superstar Rajnikant's films, until he offers an unconditional apology for his alleged insulting remarks on Kannadigas.

Speaking to UNI here, Narayana Gowda, President of KRV, which had spearheaded the agitation over Hogenakkal issue in the State, has alleged that after insulting Karnataka and its people, Rajnikant was trying to create a wedge between the Pro Kannada organisations.

Reiterating KRV's demand for an unconditional apology from Rajnikant for his remark against the people of Karnataka, Mr Gowda said ''Rajnikant films would not be allowed to be screened in the soil of Karnataka, until he tenders an apology''.

It may be recalled that the pro Kannada activists withdrew their agitation, following requests from the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to ''put on hold'' the Hogenakkal project, until a popular Government was installed in Karnataka, following escalating violence in both the States over the issue.

Even though Mr Karunanidhi's statement had taken away the wind out of the sail of the inter-state agitation on Hogenakkal issue, Rajnikant's alleged remark on the people of Karnataka had turned the ire towards him.
