INS Shivaji gets Hindi Rajbhasha Award

Kochi, Apr 7 (UNI) Indian Naval Ship Shivaji, the engineering training naval base at Lonavla in Pune under the Southern Naval Command (SNC), was declared the winner of the 'Hindi Rajbhasha Rolling Trophy' for the year 2007-08.

The trophy, instituted to promote Hindi, was awarded to the unit for undertaking maximum official work in the national language, according to an official release here today.

While INS Dronacharya, the gunnery training school here, got the second prize, the Naval Ship Repair Yard here was honoured for observing the best practices in human resources development among Defence civilians in the Indian Navy.

SNC Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Vice Admiral Sunil K Damle presented the awards, it added.

Eight injured in bomb explosions in Nepal

Kathmandu, Apr 7 (uni) At least eight people were injured in explosions in three places across the country where the Nepali Congress was due to hold electoral assemblies this afternoon. Five people were injured when a bomb went off at Ghantaghar in Birgunj when NC rally was underway and the condition of two of them was reported to be critical, Kantipur said, quoting its local reporter. The injured were undergoing treatment at the Narayani.....

PM Koirala assures China to stop anti Chinese activities in Nepal

Kathmandu, Apr 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has expressed his commitment to prevent anti-China activities from taking place on Nepali soil. At a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zheng Xianglin this morning, Mr Koirala confirmed his stance to prevent anti-China activities from Nepal as China shares close relationship with the Himalayan nation, Kantipur quoted official as saying. On Ambassador Xianglin's query on the demonstrations carried out by Tibetan refugees in the capital.....

Pak wants to resolve Kashmir issue through dialouge: Gilani

Islamabad, Apr 7 (UNI) Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani today said that his country wants the resolution of all outstanding issues with India, including the core issue of Kashmir, through dialogue. Talking to visiting UK Home Secretary Jacqui Smith at the PM house here, Mr Gilani said his government would pursue friendly relations with all its neighbours including India. On the issue of terrorism, the Prime Minister said terrorism is a global phenomenon.....
