Infiltration bid foiled, one militant killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 7 (UNI) Troops today foiled an infiltration bid when they gunned down a militant in Keran sector in Jammu and Kashmir early this morning.

Official sources said troops guarding the border noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan occupied Kashmir in Keran sector. When challenged and asked to surrender they opened fire.

The fire was returned and in the ensuing gun battle one infiltrator was killed.

The operation in the woods was going on when the reports last came in, they said.

About 1500 militants are waiting at launching camps at LOC to cross over to this side.

At least 60 infiltrators were killed by the security forces during the past one year.

About 100 others, including their family members surrendered after there return from PoK during the same period.

India, S Africa teams to arrive in Kanpur tomorrow
