India, S Africa teams to arrive in Kanpur tomorrow

Kanpur, Mar 7 (UNI) India and visiting South Africa cricket teams will arrive here tomorrow evening for the third and final cricket test match at Green Park stadium scheduled from April 11.

''There is slight change in the teams arrival time now, they will land at Lucknow airport around 1430 hrs, instead 1630 hrs and then leave for Kanpur by road,'' Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) manager administration Prem Dhar Pathak told UNI today.

Meanwhile, eight State Bank of India (SBI) branches will open the tickets sale tomorrow.

Apprising about the match preparations, the green park stadium Curator Shiv Kumar said ''the pitch and ground work will be ready by tomorrow.'' Cricket Control Board's ground and pitch committee member Daljeet Singh will be arriving here by this evening to inspect the pitch and ground, he added.

A total of 3,700 policemen would be garrisoned in the stadium to avoid any untoward incident.

Besides, 10 Additional Superintendent of police and other top officials would maintain vigil during five day match.

The teams will stay in hotel Land Mark and go for net pratice on April 09 and 10 and will leave the city on April 15.

'Taliban commander' arrested in Afghanistan

Kabul, Apr 7 : A senior Taliban commander has been arrested in Kandahar, according to Afghan officials. Mullah Abdul Jabar, the Taliban deputy leader in southern Afghanistan, was arrested when he was on his way to Pakistan, the BBC quoted officials, as saying. Kerala to study impact of climate change
