Delhi businessman attacked, Out of danger

Mandi, Apr 7 (UNI) An unidentified gunman shot at a Delhi businessman here in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh late last night, police said.

The gunman fired three shots at Vijay Kumar, New Delhi's wholesale cloth merchant, about nine km from here, while he was on his way to Palampur in Kangra district at about 2230 hrs.

The police said as soon as the businessman got down from his car to urinate, a person appeared from nowhere and fired three shots at him, two of which hit him just under the shoulder.

The unidentified person, presuming Mr Kumar to be dead, escaped under the cover of darkness, the police said.

Another person accompanying the businessman first brought him to Pandoh Police Station from where he was taken to Mandi Zonal Hospital where he was operated upon to take out the bullets.

The police, quoting hospital doctors, said he was now out of danger, adding that a case under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered and investigations are on.

Badal demands Rs 400 per quintal as bonus on wheat

Two soil testing labs to be set up in Samastipur

Samastipur, Apr 7 (UNI) Two soil sample test labs will be set up in Samastipur district of North Bihar at the cost of Rs 37 lakhs to promote agriculture in the area. Speaking to media persons here today, District Magistrate(DM) Asangwa Chua said that both the soil sample test labs would be set up at Patori and Hasanpur in the district and the construction work would be completed in the current financial year.
