Jammu, Apr 7 (UNI) A local court today extended the police remand of Capt Chetanya Bhatwadekar, husband of Captain Megha Razdan, whose body was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her official residence here last year, by five days, sources today said.

Earlier, a local court on April 2 sent Capt Chaitanya to the six-day police remand till April 7.

However, the police produced Captain Chatanya Bhatwadekar as per the direction of the court before the Duty Magistrate with an application for extension of police remand.

''The court extended for five-days more police remand of accused Captain Chatanya Bhatwadekar, who was booked under sections 306 (abetment) and 498-A (cruelty) RPC,'' sources told UNI.

Police had arrested Capt Chaitanya on April 1 on charges of abetting the suicide of his 26-year-old Army officer wife.
