Bypolls to 3 Haryana seats to be held as per old assembly area

Chandigarh, Apr 7 (UNI) By-elections for the present assembly tenure in Haryana will be held as per old Vidhan Sabha constituencies area, Chief Electoral Officer Sajjan Singh said here today.

The by-elections were due in Indri, Gohana and Adampur constituencies of the state due to disqualification of three Congress legislators, including former chief minister Bhajan Lal, from the assembly.

''If a seat of a Legislative Assembly is fallen vacant due to any reason, new member is elected only for the rest of the term of the Assembly,'' Mr Singh stated in a meeting of the electoral officers of Gurgaon division.

The meeting was held to review the task of preparing photo identity cards, photo voter lists and ensuring effective compliance of the new de-limitation orders.

Miscreants loot Rs 40 lakh from businessman

Capt Chetanya's police remand extended for five days

Jammu, Apr 7 (UNI) A local court today extended the police remand of Capt Chetanya Bhatwadekar, husband of Captain Megha Razdan, whose body was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her official residence here last year, by five days, sources today said. Earlier, a local court on April 2 sent Capt Chaitanya to the six-day police remand till April 7. However, the police produced Captain Chatanya Bhatwadekar as per the direction of the court.....
