Ludhiana, Apr 7 (UNI) Encouraging the farmers to adopt beekeeping, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) experts today said that with scientific developments, beekeeping, which was earlier considered to be a subsidiary occupation, has become a lucrative venture.
Speaking to a gathering of progressive beekeepers in a state level meeting organised by the Directorate of Extension Education PAU here, Dr Satpal Mehra, Additional Director of Extension Education said "Beekeeping can help in enhancing profitability of the farmers as there is a diversity of products like honey, royal jelly, etc that can be obtained from it." In the meeting, the experts discussed the issues concerning packing, marketing and creating sale outlets of honey and highlighted that honey based food products if marketed properly can enhance profitability of the farmers.
