YSR conducts review meeting for flood relief

Hyderabad, Apr 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today held a review meeting with all the departmental officials on the crop losses and damages in the unseasonal heavy rains in March and hailstorm yesterday.

Dr Reddy told the officials to work out details on the inputs - subsidy, crop insurance and seed subsidy - to be given to the farmers.

Stating that the state government will help them by providing subsidy, seeds and crop insurance, he asked the officials to work out a scheme to purchase the chilly stock from the farmers.

He assured the farmers that the government would compensate their losses and damages as far as possible.

He called for a meeting within a week, after getting the full details of the damages by conducting a comprehensive study by the officials of Agriculture and Horticulture departments, where all the schemes would be worked out, an official release said.

Kolkata-Dhaka 'Moitree Express' start from April 14

Dhaka, Apr 7: The Bangladesh Council of Advisers has approved the draft of Dhaka-Kolkata passenger train service. An agreement between Bangladesh and India would be signed 'soon' for the train service, which both the countries have agreed in principle to start from April 14, press secretary to the chief adviser of Bangladesh Fakhruddin Ahmed told mediapersons yesterday.
