Videocon plans Rs 25 cr token investment in JK

Jammu, Apr 6: Videocon Group, an Indian multinational manufacturing electronic and home appliances, plans a token investment of Rs 25 crore to begin with in Jammu and Kashmir during current financial year, Chairman Venugopal N Dhoot today said.

''We have plans to invest Rs 25 crore as token in our bio-tech unit to be set-up in J&K,'' Mr Dhoot told the sources on the sidelines of a function here. The Videocon chairman, who was in the state to submit the ASSOCHAM's study projecting J&K's export potential, said he has got a positive response from Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in this regard.

Mr Dhoot also hinted at supplementary investments in the state, as it offers immense business opportunities for industries.

Videocon forays into steel manufacturing in Bengal

Kolkata, Oct 4: Making its foray into steel manufacturing, V N Dhoot's Videocon Group today signed an agreement with the West Bengal government for setting up of a three-million ton integrated plant in the state. The consumer electronics major will also set up a 1,200 MW captive power plant as a back-up support to its steel factory, designed for high value products to cater to automobile, ship building and engineering industries. Mumbai, Jan 11: Videocon Industries Ltd today said that its subsidiary Datacom Solutions Pvt Ltd has been granted Letter of Intent (LoI) for award of licence to provide Unified Access Services (UAS) on all India basis. Datacom has also made the necessary payment of Rs 15.06 billion and has furnished the requisite bank guarantee of Rs 8.47 billion to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India.
