Pachouri quits RS seat from Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi, Apr 6: Minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachouri has tendered his resignation from the Union Council of Ministers. Informed sources said Mr Pachouri handed over his resignation letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh late last evening. Mr Pachouri had recently been given the resposibility of overseeing the party's victory in Madhya Pradesh.

According to the sources, he will be in charge of the electioneering for the state assembly polls. His membership of the Rajya Sabha is due to expire on April 9. Mr Pachouri was elected to the Upper House for the first time on April 10, 1984. He has since been its member for the past 24 years.
