Minor fire in LIC building in Mumbai, no casualties

Mumbai, Apr 6 (UNI) A minor fire broke out on the fourth floor of the five-storeyed LIC building on Phirozeshah Mehta road in South Mumbai tonight.

According to fire brigade officials, the fire started at around 2235 hours. Ten fire engines and two ambulances were dispatched to douse the fire.

The cause for the fire is not yet known.

There were no reports of loss of life till now, and the extent of damage to the property is yet to be ascertained by the officials.

The building houses commercial complexes. Today being a Sunday, people were not present except the security staff, informed the officials.

The fire was extinguished after some time. Vehicular traffic in the area was diverted for fire-fighting operation, they added.

Kolkata-Dhaka 'Moitree Express' start from April 14

Dhaka, Apr 7: The Bangladesh Council of Advisers has approved the draft of Dhaka-Kolkata passenger train service. An agreement between Bangladesh and India would be signed 'soon' for the train service, which both the countries have agreed in principle to start from April 14, press secretary to the chief adviser of Bangladesh Fakhruddin Ahmed told mediapersons yesterday. Earlier, railway officials finalised the details of the service at a two-day bilateral meet on Wednesday-Thursday, Mr Syed Fahim Munaim said after the advisory.....

Bicycle bomb recovered

Guwahati, Apr 07 (UNI) The Army this morning averted a major disaster when it recovered a bicycle bomb and arrested three ULFA cadres on the proscribed militant organisation's raising day at Namrup. Official sources said the 44th field regiment of the Army nabbed three ULFA cadres - Putul Gogoi, Nabajyoti Gogoi and Jatin Gogoi - from Borhat area of Tinsukia district. Based on their confession, the Army recovered a bicycle bomb from the Namrup.....

Woman kills nagging husband in TN

Kancheepuram, Apr 7: A woman bludgeoned to death her husband, unable to bear his continuous harassment suspecting her fidelity, near Chengalpattu in this district, last night. Police said Munusamy (38), an autorickshaw driver, had married Suseela (33) 16 years ago and they had two children. Munusamy, in an inebriated condition, used to torture Suseela, suspecting her fidelity. Yesterday too, a drunken Munusamy picked up a quarrel with her. An enraged Suseela hit him with an iron pipe, killing him on the spot......
