Merchants lounge inaugurated at Cuttack

Cuttack, Apr 6 (UNI) A modern and sophisticated Merchants' Lounge was opened at the Freight Terminal of the Cuttack Railway station here today.

Railway Board Chairman Kalyan Coomar Jena inaugurated the lounge at a function here.

Mr Jena, who was here to review the progress of various projects, expressed his disatisfaction over the delay in doubling of line and completion of the bridges on Kuakhai and Kathajodi rivers in Cuttack-Barang Section.

However, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited(RVNL) Managing Director assured the Chairman that all works would be completed before April and the double line would be opened for freight traffic by May one.

Opening of this line would substantially ease the existing constraints and improve the movement of freight traffic meant for Paradeep Port, the railway sources said.

Mr Jena also inaugurated Wi-Fi Hot-Spot facility at Cuttack railway station. The Wi-Fi facility would help travelling passengers with laptop to avail internet facility in the station premises.

This state-of-the-art facility was first of its kind in a railway station in the Eastern Part ofthe country.

During the review East Coast Railway General Manager A K Goyal decided to increase the number of booking counters from three to five at Cuttack during peak rush hours from tomorrow.

TN yet to resume bus services to K'taka

Bangalore, Apr 6 (UNI) Bus services from Tamil Nadu remained suspended as transport corporations authorities in the neighbouring state were yet to decide on resuming the services to Karnataka in the wake of agitation against the Hogenakkal water project.
