Inflation hits Nagaland markets

Kohima, Apr 06 (UNI) The countrywide inflation, which has already touched seven per cent, has badly hit markets in Nagaland with the prices of essential commodities and vegetables soaring high.

Prices of all essential commodities, including rice, atta, pulses, vegetables, fish and oil rose to all time high in the state.

The capital town, one of the most expensive towns in the country, is the worst sufferer.The prices here at least Rs five more than Dimapur and the worst victims are the weaker section of the society.

Some of the businessmen in this capital town said that due to transportation cost and taxation by various agencies, organizations and underground groups are the main reason of rocketing price rise.

They also maintained that price rise is a national phenomenon due to inflation but the taxation has gave an another chance to it.

It also observed that the Chambers of Commerce, specially in Dimapur and Kohima has not yet taken any step, but blaming the price rise of petroleum products, the budget and duties and taxes in various states, through which the essential coming to the state.

However, they assured that they would deal with the situation.

Besides, high transport cost, bad road conditions and lack of communications were som of the resons for high prices in remote areas.

Five injured in Kashmir highway accident

Srinagar, Jan 31: Five people were injured in two separate road accidents on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, official sources said today. They said two people were injured, when a car collided head-on with a truck near tool post at Qazigund on the highway. Three others were injured in similar accident at Pampore on the highway.The injured were admitted to hospitals, they added. UNI.....
