Indonesia A, Thailand A retain Beach Volley title

Hyderabad, Apr 6: Defending champion Indonesia A and Thailand A retained Asian Beach Volleyball Championship title for men and women, repectively, here today.

Winners grabbed a cheque of US Dollar 5,000 while the runner-up settled for US Dollar 4,000 and third placed team with US Dollar 3,000.Indonesia A defeated China A in a hard faught match 21-15, 19-21, 22-20 to retaine the title.Thailand A defeated Iran 19-21, 23-21, 17-15, to secure third place whereas Kazakhistan A, New Zealand, Iran B and SriLanka B won minor prizes.In women's section Thailand A defeated China A 21-14, 22-20.Thailand B defeated New Zealand with comfortable margin of 21-13, 21-19 and grabbed third place.

China B, Malaysia A, Malaysia B and Hong Kong B settled for the minor places.

State Home Minister K Jana Reddy and Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah gave away the prizes.

Team India ready to take on Pakistan: Ramaiah

Visakhapatnam, Aug 5: Indian Volleyball team's morale is high after finishing runners up in the recently concluded Second Commonwealth Volleyball Championships at Kolkata and is ready for the first ever five test match series with Pakistan, beginning here on August Seven, Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) Vice-President Kodanda Ramaiah has said. Talking to 'UNI', Mr Ramaiah said the overall performance of India was good and they had won gold in Second Asian Central Zone.....
