Hogenakkal confusion created by Cong: Yeddyurappa

Bangalore, Apr 6 (UNI) BJP leader and former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa today said the failure on part of Congress-led UPA government at the Centre in not allowing Tamil Nadu to take up the controversial Hogenakkal Water Project was behind all the trouble people had to face in the two states in the recent days.

Speaking to reporters here, he said primarily it was the failure of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who did not stop the neighbouring state which had taken up a project ''which did not have any sanction.'' ''This project does not have the clearance of Forest or Environment Departments nor it has the sanction of the Water Resources Ministry. It was the failure of the UPA government that led to Tamil Nadu government going this far,'' he said.

Now it was good the Tamil Nadu government had decided to suspend the work on the project till an elected government was put in place in Karnataka.

''So, now we have to be ready to tackle the issue after the elections and BJP is fully ready to do so if elected to power,'' he added.
