Ex-Pak CJ Chaudhry determined to have himself reinstated

Islamabad, Apr.6 : Pakistan's deposed Supreme Court Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has expressed his determination to have himself reinstated.

Sources told The Nation that he revealed these thoughts to three other sacked Supreme Court Justices -- Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Sardar Raza Khan, and Justice Nasirul Mulk - during a meeting at his residence on Saturday.

According to the paper, the sacked justices discussed different issues, including proposed legal package for restoration of judges in line with Murree Accord.

The three judges reassured their support for Chaudhry, saying that they would sink or sail together.

Chaudhry also shared the details of his recent visit to Quetta with the visiting judges.

Senior Supreme Court lawyer Athar Minullah, who was during the meeting, said the Muree Accord is clear on the restoration of the deposed judges.

When asked why Chaudhry has refused to address bar associations across the country, Athar said that the deposed Chief Justice believed in the Murree Accord and its thirty days deadline to have him restored.

Federal Law Minister Farooq H Naik has also assured him that the work regarding the restoration of the sacked judges is in the pipeline, therefore, Justice Chaudhry decided to give government a chance to implement the Murree Accord.

Meanwhile, according to The Nation, Naik met incumbent Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar and reportedly discussed the judicial crisis in detail.
