Srinagar, Apr 6: The University of Kashmir (UK) and Indian National Trust for Art Cultural Heritage (INTACH) have decided to take up collaborative projects on Central Asian Linkages in trade, culture and architecture between Kashmir and Central Asia. This was decided at a meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof Riyaz Punjabi with INTACH team headed by M Saleem Beg, its convenor. The meeting was attended by Registrar UK Prof Syed Fayaz, Professor Mustaq A Kaw, Prof G M Mir of Centre of Central Asian Studies, Andreas Cantanese, senior functionary of Tibet Heritage fund, a German based NGO, Sameer Hamadani and Jabeen Manzoor architects from INTACH.

According to Public Relations Officer (PRO) of UK purpose of the meeting was to develop a platform for research and documentation of various aspects of heritage and culture of Kashmir. It was decided in the meeting that UK and INTACH would henceforth take up collaborative projects on Central Asian Linkages in trade, culture and architecture between Kashmir and Central Asia.

It was also conceded that a National workshop would be held in Centre for Central Asian Studies (CCAS), Kashmir University in collaboration with INTACH in mid June this year on various facets of cultural intervention. The Tibet Heritage Fund in collaboration with INTACH is setting up a Central Asian Museum at Leh. The Prof Punjabi said that the CCAS UK would provide support for the projects taken up by the museum.
