Arjun Singh finishers tied 22nd in Manila

Manila, Apr 6 (UNI) India's Arjun Singh finished tied 22nd at the Philippine Open Golf after returning one over 73 in the final round here today.

Arjun's compatriot Himmat Singh Rai was placed tied 61st as he shot 79 in the fourth round.

Filipino Angelo Que (73, 71, 66, 73) emerged as the winner with a total of five under 283.

Arjun (72, 74, 73, 73) ended the tournament with a total of four over 292. He sank birdies on the second, fourth, 11th, 13th, 14th and dropped bogeys on the first, seventh and 18th.

He also made a triple bogey on the 16th.

Himmat(73, 76, 78, 79) finished the tournament with an overall score of eighteen over 306.

Moscow's warm spring hits new temperature record

Moscow, Apr 6 (UNI) Today's temperature in Moscow hit 19.2 degrees Celsius (66.56 Fahrenheit), a record high for April 6, as the capital's unusually warm spring continues, Russian Meteorological Service said. The previous record for April 6 was registered in 1975. According to the Service, temperatures could rise even higher by the end of the day today. Numerous temperature records have been broken in Moscow in recent years. March last year was the warmest.....

Labour laws should aim at welfare of workers: Professor

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Apr 6 (UNI) Labour laws should aim at the welfare of workers and provide them better living standards, Andhra University Law Department Head Y Rajendra Prasad said. While delivering a lecture on 'Labour Laws' at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Law here, Prof Prasad said ''the labour laws should ensure real wages, job security, peaceful settlement of labour disputes and payment of compensation to the workers.''
